Pseudomonas P Agar
Pseudomonas P Agar is an agar medium used to detect pyocianin production by Pseudomonas spp. The salts Magnesium Chloride and Potassium Sulfate enhance the production of the iron chelator pyocianin (blue) by this genus. Pancreatic Digest of Gelatin also enhance pigment production and supplies nitrogenous sources, and Agar serves as gelifying agent. There is a choice of 3 sizes – 500g, 2kg, and 10kg.
PREPARATION: Mix 46.4 grams of the medium in one liter of purified water until evenly dispersed. Heat with repeated stirring to dissolve completely. Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
