2XYT Microbial Medium

2xYT Broth is a liquid medium used for cultivating recombinant strains of Escherichia coli. Enzymatic Digest of Casein provides nitrogenous sources like amino acids and peptides. Yeast Extract supplies B-complex vitamins and minerals. Sodium Chloride maintains the osmotic balance. There is a choice of 3 sizes – 500g, 2kg, and 10kg.

PREPARATION: Mix 31 grams of the medium in one liter of purified water until evenly dispersed. Heat with repeated stirring to dissolve completely. Autoclave at 121°C for 15 minutes.
